AdventHealth – Shawnee Mission Tower 2, a commercial healthcare building, has a rich history that dates back to the early 1950s. The original structure was constructed during a time of significant growth and development in the healthcare industry. However, as the years passed, the building began to show its age and needed a redesign to meet the increasing demand for advanced medical services in the Shawnee Mission area.

Recognizing the need for change, we partnered with AdventHealth to deliver a major renovation of Shawnee Mission Tower 2. Working closely with Henderson Engineers, Bob D. Campbell, and McCarthy Builders, we transformed the facility into a modern, efficient, patient-focused space—completed in November 2023.

The project began in fall 2021 and progressed through multiple carefully planned phases to meet updated codes and fire ratings. One of the standout improvements was modifying the exterior precast to bring in significantly more natural light, enhancing both aesthetics and the patient experience.

Guided by current healthcare standards and operational efficiency, the design supports high-quality clinical care while improving daily workflows for staff. The result is a state-of-the-art environment that elevates the experience for patients, visitors, and caregivers alike.

The overwhelmingly positive feedback from staff and patients reinforces the power of strong AEC collaboration. Through shared goals and coordinated teamwork, we transformed an aging structure into a vibrant, modern facility—honoring its history while preparing it for the future.

Today, Tower 2 stands as a testament to our commitment to healthcare excellence and thoughtful design.
